A Colo-Colo shirt seen at Tyler St Sport Bar in Auckland, New Zealand - Orcland FC

I was checking out some Instagram stories this morning and I came across one (by Samantha) that showed what it was like at Tyler St Sport (Bar) during the first A-League match of the season (25/26) for Auckland FC (visiting Melbourne Victory).

What got my attention was a football shirt that was very familiar. It was of one of the top football clubs in Chile called Colo-Colo. That is not something you see often here in New Zealand.

Random Facts that you didn’t need to know …

Colo-Colo was founded 19 April 1925 … yes, this year they celebrated 100 years of the club’s existence.

The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) named Colo-Colo as the top club in Chile for the 20th century and one of the top twenty clubs in South American football history.

At the time of this post (October 2025), Colo-Colo has won 34 Primera División de Chile (First Division) titles, more than any other Chilean club and a record fourteen Copa Chile titles. It was the first Chilean team to win a continental tournament, winning the 1991 Copa Libertadores. The following year, the club went on to win a further two international titles: the 1992 Recopa Sudamericana and the 1992 Copa Interamericana.
