Dylan Pierias (Adelaide United) received a red card at the 37th minute leaving Adelaide with 10 players for the rest of the match. 3 minutes later Takeshi Kanamori scored an amazing goal from well outside the penalty area making it look like Melbourne City were going to overturn the result. However, Ryan White and Jay Barnett had come off the bench in the second half and both scored a goal each despite the team only having 10 players.
