The New Zealand Derby, this time in Auckland and with drama as always. Manjrekar James (Wellington Phoenix) got a red card just after kick-off in the second half. Auckland was awarded a penalty in the 64th minute which Sam Cosgrove missed thanks to a save by Joshua Oluwayemi. This was the first ever penalty in the club’s existence. Then in the 70th minute, Auckland FC were given another penalty but this time with Francis De Vries taking it. Again, Oluwayemi saved the penalty but De Vries could still score from the rebound. Then in the 80th minute Guillermo May sealed the match with his goal after coming on from the bench only 3 minutes earlier. With this result, Auckland FC have won all 5 of the NZ derbies.
