⚽️ Auckland FC Reserves vs. Fencibles United AFC ⚽️

Ange and I were at Fred Taylor Park for the home game between the Auckland FC Reserves team and Fencibles United AFC. It was FREEZING! In the video you will notice constant puffs of “it’s damn cold” mist coming out of the players with every breath.

These are some of the match highlights I recorded during the game including all five Fencible United and Auckland FC Reserves goals.
The Fencibles United Goals were:
⚽️ 45’ Aston Burns
⚽️ 59’ Aston Burns
⚽️ 62’ Dylan Laing-McConnell

The Auckland FC Reserves Goals were:
⚽️ 67’ Shivam Nair
⚽️ 86’ Ralph Rutherford

This was a great game to watch with five goals in total. The fact that Auckland FC were down 0-3 at one point and came back with two goals in the second half to end the match at 2-3 made the the game quite entertaining. Aston Burns’ goals were clinical when he was one-on-one with the Auckland FC goalkeeper. The goal that Ralph Rutherford scored from a free kick was next level!

Something that you may notice watching the video is that there were LOADS more Fencible United supporters than Auckland FC ones. The “Fencies” were a lot more vocal cheering on their team (from all around the pitch), so much that it seemed like they were playing a home game. The Port was nowhere to be seen nor heard.
Something that made me laugh was that there was an older (over 35s) Fencibles team that dropped by as a part of their Stag Do party. They had already been to a number of pubs but came to this match (and the upstairs bar) as a part of their night (One of them had their son playing in the match). Of course they were well behaved and a lot of fun.

A Sky Sport camera was at the grounds looking to interview some Auckland FC supporters. Since there were hardly any around (other than parents of the AFC players), Sky really had to scrap the bottom of the barrel and ended up interviewing Rob. 🙂 However, it was a masterclass in “How to look enthusiastic while freezing your assets off.”
