Elias Boukarim, Head of Performance & Medical, has left Auckland FC.
If his name doesn’t ring a bell, you may know him better as Mr. Eggs from the Sky Sport documentary Forever Auckland FC. There he was seen as the performance egg-spert that always told the players to eat lots of eggs, and then some more, as it was beneficial for training and recovery.
He is also quoted as saying “You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette … so we train the boys really, really hard!”
That is something we have heard even from the players that Elias would push them very hard, and you could see this in the team’s results, especially last year where players seemed to last much longer on the pitch.
Apparently, Elias has returned to Sydney to be with his family … which is completely understandable.
BUT, the question is … Why did it happen now and NOT at the end of the season?
My doubt is also … How will this affect the team for the rest of the season?
Random fact: The Auckland FC team goes through around 25,000 eggs a year.
So, you can see why Auckland FC has partnered with Henergy Eggs.
