
The 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is the 9th edition of this annual international women’s youth football championship for under-17 national teams. It features 24 teams from six confederations and is hosted by Morocco, marking the first time the tournament is held in Africa and the second in an Arab country after Jordan in 2016. North Korea are the defending champions after winning their third title in 2024. The tournament runs from October 17 to November 8, 2025.
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup was held every two years until 2024 but will now be held every year including 2025. Originally there were 16 teams for each edition but from 2025 there will be 24 teams. Also note that the tournament will now be held in the same country over a five-year period, so the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held in Morocco for the 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029 editions of the Cup. Just in time for the Men’s FIFA World Cup 2030 set to be co-hosted by Morocco, along with European neighbours Spain and Portugal.

Tournament Format
In the group stage, each team plays three matches. The top two teams from each group and the four best third-placed teams advance to the round of 16. The knockout stage proceeds without extra time, going directly to penalty shoot-outs if necessary.
